2009 Annual Report

Behind every successful Girl Scout is a committed volunteer that teaches her to discover, connect and take action in ways that are anything but average. Without women and men volunteering everyday, great Girl Scout events do not happen. Volunteers share their time and resources because they understand that girls are our future.

This year, community leaders and Girl Scouts have connected and collaborated to share the experience of giving and learning. Through this partnership, girls get career building opportunities and realize that giving back is important for a healthy community. At the same time. volunteers see the value and impact of their commitment and understand how easy it is to make a difference in a girl's life. Outreach

A group of deaf girls at Montezuma Elementary School were able to start a lunch time Girl Scout program thanks to the outreach program. They even had the opportunity to participate in the Girl Scout Cookie program and sold cookies to the Deaf community. Click here for more highlights of outreach Girl Scout troop activities.

"Girl Scouts is more than an after school activity for a lot of the girls that are served by the outreach program. They are given the opportunity to do simple things that they may have never done without Girl Scouts."

Membership

Girl Scouts is the organization best positioned to offer girls the tools they need to be successful leaders now and throughout their lives.

The Girl Scout program can change the way girls see the world and their place in it. Girls learn the importance of personal responsibility, the value of goal-setting, the spirit of teamwork, and the thrill of accomplishment.

"Girl Scouts gives me an outlet to play around with different hobbies and career choices. With the wide span of programs offered to me, i feel like i have an opportunity to take a taste of any hobby and put it back if i don't like it. To have that kind of freedom in the world is empowering."
