Girl Scouts Heart of Central California offers an array of courses to aid volunteers and friends of Girl Scouting in their experience. Please view the 2007-2008 Adult Education Guide, coming in August 2007, and take advantage of all Girl Scouts Heart of Central California offers.
I need training, how do I get started? How often are courses available?
Courses in the Adult Education Guide are offered through out the year with dates and times that are sure to fit any schedule. To fit the needs of all leaders Online Training will be available Fall 2007.
How affordable are training courses?
We strive to bring our members the best education, while maintaining affordability for our members. Through proceeds from Fall Product Program and the Girl Scout Cookie Program, we are able to achieve this goal. Additional funding is provided through a combination of individual gifts, Family Partnership contributions, grants, corporate donations, in-kind gifts, and United Way contributions.
These proceeds and contributions fund adult education costs such as research, planning, facilities, registrations, insurance coverage and materials. This funding allows us to provide leadership and personal enrichment courses to you at a fee less than the actual cost.
Training goes online!
Our first online class debuted in December 2007. There are now three options for taking New Leader Basics, the course that follows Getting Started/Orientation.
We now offer this course:
- In a classroom
- Online
- Mail-in home study
Those taking the course online will receive the same printed booklet distributed in the classroom setting and will complete their course by taking part in a teleconference. The phone contact with a trainer will provide support for our new leaders and keep our valued “high-touch” style along with the new high-tech format.
Age level classes for leaders of Girl Scout Daisy, Brownie and Junior troops are available online now! The online class can be requested through the volunteer’s Membership Director.
