Leadership Programs at Camp Menzies
These specially designed leadership programs will show you how to develop and lead camp programs while increasing your communication and problem-solving skills. Additional workshops will help you learn about camp operation, diversity awareness, outdoor careers and camping skills. Each program will include individual and/or small group training sessions with supervised hands-on experience working with younger campers.
Counselor-In-Training (C.I.T.) or Wrangler-in-Training (W.I.T.)

*Prerequisite: At least 15 years old or entering 10th grade
Improve your leadership skills and learn about the needs of children in the camp setting. Explore the basics of developing and delivering camp program and camp operations. Spend some time working with younger children. W.I.T.’s will shadow riding staff at the horse corral and must have horseback riding experience. Sleep under the stars or bring your own tent.
Advanced C.I.T.
*Prerequisite: At least 16 years old or entering 11th grade and completion of the C.I.T. program or its equivalent
Focus on camp management and gain practical experience in various areas of the camp operation. Practice your leadership and program skills while working with younger campers. Sleep under the stars or bring your own tent.
Apprentice C.I.T.
*Prerequisite: At least 17 years old or entering 12th grade and completion of the C.I.T. program or it’s equivalent
Find your place in camp. Use your leadership and program skills as you work under the supervision of camp staff, in units, or at your favorite specialty area. Carry out an individual project and learn more about camp management. Sleep under the stars or bring your own tent.
