Space Exploration Interest Project

Discover the exciting way we explore our universe with the Discovery Museum Science & Space Center. During this “space-tacular” day, Girl Scout Cadettes will participate in six activities needed for their Space Exploration Interest Project. In addition girls will learn about a service project opportunity at the Discovery Museum in May that will complete their Interest Project. Girls should come ready to blast off into space in our Challenger Learning Center simulated space mission. They will also build and launch rockets, learn about a variety of telescopes and probes designed to study space, and use NASA websites to research and collect data about the universe. Participants will also make a personal space resources scrapbook to take home. This is a girl only event. Fee included admission.

Movin' On Up!

Bridging Girl Scout Juniors are invited to an overnight to begin their path into older Girl Scout adventures and the Girl Scout Cadette program. Program aides plan and lead activities to help you complete bridging requirements 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5.
Groups are limited to the ratios found on p.56 of Volunteer Essentials (updated Safety-Wise) of 1 adult for each individual girl, 2 adults for groups of 2-20 girls, 3 adults for groups of 21-30 girls. Fee includes program materials, overnight accommodations, Saturday dinner, Sunday breakfast, snacks and participation patch.
Accompanying Girl Scout Junior leaders and adults will have the opportunity to take the next age level training. Adults must register for training separately through the Adult Education calendar.
Program Aides for this event must be in 8th grade or above and be available to help with program setup on Friday evening on site.

Oceans Away

Head to the coast for two full days of fun and sun. Spend your evenings at the KOA in Watsonville sleeping under the stars and spend the day exploring local attractions. Enjoy the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk amusement park and Monterey Bay Aquarium, and in your spare time you can work on the From Shore to Sea Interest Project. Troops are responsible for their own camping gear and supplies, transportation and food. Each troop must be accompanied by a Level 1 First Aider and a Troop Camp Certified adult. Fee includes camp site, Monterey Bay Aquarium entrance fee, Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk day pass, Saturday night campfire, and a participation patch. Parking fees are not included.
