There is plenty of research to show that spending time in nature can nurture creativity and healthy social development, and help girls gain the skills to seek and conquer challenges. At resident camp, girls have the opportunity to discover and connect with the natural world, and learn how to take action like a G.I.R.L.! Whether in a tent or a cabin, with council staff or fantastic volunteers, a summer of adventure awaits.
Explore the unique character of GSHCC's three resident camps:
Camping isn’t just for the summer anymore. Outdoor experiences provide challenges and enhance leadership skills while exploring nature that inspire girls’ curiosity, discovery and problem solving. We offer a variety of weekend events throughout the year for girls, troops, groups and families.
Come meet the GSHCC horses and experience something new. We offer weekend programs during the school year for girls and troops and horseback riding and horse-themed camps at our resident camp, Camp Menzies, during the summer.
Family camps are opportunities for Girl Scouts and their families to
have an outdoor camp experience together!

Girl Scout Ranger Program
The National Park Service and Girl Scouts of the United States of America have partnered to create the Girl Scout Ranger Program. Girl Scouts are invited to participate in a variety of existing, organized educational or service projects at national park sites, or design their own experience or project to align with Journey work badge activities, or a Take Action or Highest Award project. Girl Scouts are awarded certificates and/or patches for their participation.
