Come kayaking with Headwaters Boathouse! If you’ve never been kayaking, or have only been a few times, this event is perfect for you. Participate in a quick on-land instructions course, where you learn the fundamentals of kayaking, before getting out on the water to have fun. Senior Girl Scouts - earn Steps 1-4 of the Senior Paddling Badge! This event is open to adults and girls; adult’s supervision is required and supervising adults must register for this event. When you click ‘register’ you will be directed to a 3rd party site to complete registration and receive all further communications from Headwaters directly, GSHCC staff will not be present at event. Program facilitated by: Headwaters Boathouse, a GSHCC Program Partner. GSHCC Staff will not be present.

Program Fee Includes: In person kayaking instruction, all required kayaking equipment, and a space for Girl Scouts to make new friends. NOTE: Senior Paddling Badge is NOT included in event fee, but can be purchased at the GSHCC Shop.

Supplies Needed:

  • Face masks
  • Water bottle
  • Sunscreen
  • Sun hat
  • Athletic Clothing (no denim or cotton)

Note: Parking is $5 in the parking lot, or free along the street.

Registration: A minimum of 8 registered participants are required to hold this event. In the event that the minimum is not met, you will be notified before the event date, and a full refund will be processed.
This event is for registered Girl Scout members only. Not a member? Join now and save! Become a member before registering for this event to take advantage of our member pricing, plus save on other GSHCC events for the rest of the year! A Girl Scout membership is $25 a year. A membership year runs from October to September.

Adult Supervision: Adult supervision is required for this event, and adults must register to attend. If registering as a troop GSHCC requires that you follow the ratios below for your troop level. Per GS Safety Activities Checkpoints, please provide 2 adults if attending with 6 or fewer girls. We ask that no more than the required number of adults attend the event. Adult chaperones are responsible for supervising girls and enforcing the HW and GSHCC rules at all times while on HW property. At no time may girls be unsupervised while on the trip.

This event is run by Headwaters Boathouse, be sure that you are following GSHCC Safety Activity Checkpoints at all times.

GSHCC Safety Activity Checkpoint Ratios for Outings, Activities, Travel and Camping

The adult-to-girl ratio is two unrelated volunteers, including one female, for up to this number of girls:

  • 6 Girl Scout Daisies
  • 12 Girl Scout Brownies
  • 16 Girl Scout Juniors
  • 20 Girl Scout Cadettes
  • 24 Girl Scout Seniors
  • 24 Girl Scout Ambassadors

There should be one extra adult for every additional:

  • 1–4 Girl Scout Daisies
  • 1–6 Girl Scout Brownies
  • 1–8 Girl Scout Juniors
  • 1–10 Girl Scout Cadettes
  • 1–12 Girl Scout Seniors
  • 1–12 Girl Scout Ambassadors
