To help you succeed, we've got in-depth training to make the Girl Scout experience safe and fun. Below, we've broken down trainings by volunteer role to make it as easy as possible to figure out what trainings you need (and when) for any volunteer role.

All of the following volunteer roles are designated “approved.” Approved volunteers are registered Girl Scout members who have successfully cleared GSHCC’s background screening process and completed position-related training. Troop leaders and other adults that will be working directly with Girl Scouts must be an approved volunteer.

Being an approved volunteer means:

They are at least 18 years old
Are a registered Girl Scout adult
Have completed LiveScan fingerprinting
Have completed all required position related training, including the mandated reporter training

Volunteer Toolkit

The Volunteer Toolkit (VTK) is a multi-faceted resource that includes detailed troop rosters, a library of meeting plans, a customizable year plan, resources and the portal to the annual finance report. Check out the VTK user guide for more information on this valuable resource:

gsLearn

gsLearn is Girl Scouts’ official online and on-demand training platform. Available to any currently registered adult member, gsLearn is available all the time, on your time schedule, and just for you! You will have access to Girl Scout-specific content that supports accuracy and consistency across the Girl Scout Movement.

Search the Content Library to see our robust catalog of courses and resources developed by GSUSA and GSHCC, to help you in your Girl Scout journey. Through the MyGS landing page, access your single sign-on page for gsLearn, Volunteer Toolkit, My Household, My Troop(s) and more.

Rallyhood

Rallyhood is a networking platform for Girl Scout members, volunteers, and council staff throughout GSHCC’s 18 counties to connect, collaborate, and get things done. The Rallyhood platform combines the functionality of tools like Eventbrite, SignUp Genius, Shutterfly, Facebook, Flickr, Google Calendar, Google Forms, and Survey Monkey all in one place. It seamlessly integrates so many of the functions troops need, including communication, calendars, file sharing, and surveys.

We recommend Troop Leaders join the “GSHCC Troop Leader Network” rally and their local service unit rally.

Live Webinars, In-Person Classes & Volunteer Events toggle arrow

The fun of learning never stops! Whether you learn best in a classroom, by a campfire, or the comfort of your home participating in virtual classes, we provide a first-class Girl Scout education. In addition to training we offer volunteer events and activities to facilitate networking and having fun with other volunteers. Check out gsLearn and the events calendar to see what’s coming up and register.

Leader Enrichment and Discussion (L.E.A.D.) toggle arrow

Our monthly L.E.A.D. (Leader Enrichment and Discussion) sessions are for troop leaders, volunteers, parents and caregivers to find out more about Girl Scouts, ask questions and network with each other. Each month we present three virtual sessions on a seasonally appropriate topic led by Girl Scout staff specialists and/or volunteers. Register through the link on the Troop Leader Network Calendar in Rallyhood or the Activities Calendar on the events page.

Session Dates and Times:

Second Thursdays, 10 to 11 am
Third Tuesdays, 6 to 7 pm

Virtual Office Hours toggle arrow

Individuals can drop in to our virtual office hours to ask questions and get support from staff. We offer general office hours Tuesdays from 5 to 6 p.m. and Thursdays from 12 to 1 p.m. and by appointment. There are extra product program specific sessions during Fall Product and Girl Scout Cookie seasons. Girl Scout volunteers in your community are here for you. Whether you are helping with the cookie program or leading a troop, GSHCC’s service unit team members are here to guide you in your chosen role. Attend your service unit meetings (based on geography) to keep up with not only the latest information, events, and training, but to network and build your community with other volunteers and learn tried and true tips from experienced leaders.
