Start your day with peace on the water! Join us for a refreshing morning paddle, where you'll glide across calm waters, soak in the beauty of nature, and enjoy the quiet serenity of the early hours while being nestled in the city close to comforts. No experience needed! Just bring your sense of adventure and desire for paddling (canoe or SUP).

Program facilitated by: GSHCC staff 

Program Fee: $25 for girl/ $0 for adult members.

Program Fee Includes: staff guided instruction, activity supplies, transportation of equipment, staff certified in First Aid CPR and Lifeguarding, and a space for Girl Scouts to make new friends. 

Supplies Needed: All participants should bring a water bottle, sunglasses or a brimmed hat, and sunscreen. Closed-toed shoes and light pants are suggested for canoeing. Participants may also wear bathing suits and water shoes if utilizing stand-up paddle boards. 

Event Disclaimer: Adults - register for our Troop Camp Certification also occurring this day at the same location. Please ensure adult ratio is covered for girls staying and hanging out in the park. If you wish to participate in the training, please register for each event separately.

Note: This event takes place in an outdoor setting. 

Adult Supervision: Adult supervision is required.

  • Attending adults must register for the event.
  • Space is limited, please keep registering adults to ratios listed in Safety Activity Checkpoints.
  • If you're dropping your girl off with another adult, the authorized person at pick up will be required to show their ID.

Event Disclaimer: Adults - register for our Troop Camp Certification OR First Aid CPR Training also occurring this weekend in the Camp Fleming campgrounds! Please ensure adult ratio is covered for girls in the lodge as you will be gone most of the day on Saturday. If you wish to participate in the training, please register for them separately.

Essential Eligibility Criteria: GSHCC programs provide an inclusive environment to all girls. Please reference our general Essential Eligibility Criteria for details about classroom and outdoor-focused activities that will help you identify the skills needed to participate in programs successfully. This activity has additional Essential Eligibility Criteria, including: Hold their breath while under water, and while wearing a properly fitted life jacket, be able to independently turn from a face down to a face up position, keeping their head above the water. Independently remain in an appropriate and safe body position, while in or on the paddle craft for the duration of the activity. Canoe - upright and seated or kneeling position. Stand Up Paddleboard - standing or kneeling position. Independently or with a companion enter and exit the watercraft on shore. Independently exit from the watercraft in the event of a capsize, and perform an appropriate self-rescue or cooperate with an assisted rescue. Independently propel the watercraft with the use of a paddle or other adaptive piece of equipment. Control a paddle and pull it through the water in order to steer and propel the boat forward.
In order to attempt self-rescues entailing re-entry of the craft while in deep water, each participant must be able to. Maneuver body and manipulate equipment to re-enter the craft. Please contact customer care if you are unsure whether or not you meet the criteria, or if you need a reasonable accommodation.

Registration: A minimum of 10 registered participants are required to hold this event. In the event that the minimum is not met, you will be notified before the event date, and a full refund will be processed.

Media Release Disclaimer: There may be photos or video taken during this event. By registering for this event, you give permission for GSHCC and GSHCC program partners to use photos/videos of your girl to promote Girl Scouts. If you would like to opt out of photographs/videos, please notify staff at event check-in.
 

Information Letter: Once you have registered you can find the information letter at least 2 weeks before the event date, by logging in to your My Account, go to My Events and select the event. Scroll to the bottom of the page to find the information letter under Additional Documentation. An email will be sent out 1 week before the scheduled event with the information letter for the event. If you register after this time, you will need to go through your My Account to get the information letter or reach out to customer care.

Troop Treasure: After registering, please follow the instructions on this form to request to pay with Troop Treasure.

Financial Aid: Financial assistance is available to girls/adults that have current memberships with Girl Scouts Heart of Central California. Payee must submit the Financial Aid Request form after registering to finalize your request. Requests must be submitted at least 2 weeks before the event date. You may still be responsible for a portion of the fees.

Cancellations:

  • If the activity requires a deposit, deposits are non-refundable.
  • Refunds will not be given for in-person activities or training fees of $5 and less.
  • All other activities will be processed as follows:
    • 21 calendar days before the activity - 100%
    • 12-20 calendar days before the activity - 50%
    • 11 or fewer calendar days before the activity - No refunds

Once in a while, GSHCC may have to cancel an event. If Girl Scouts Heart of Central California finds it necessary to cancel an activity or training, all troops/groups or individuals having submitted registrations and payments will receive a full refund.
Note: In the event of extenuating circumstances such as illnesses, deaths in the immediate family, and other catastrophic events, GSHCC will consider refunds on a case-by-case basis.
All refund requests should be submitted in writing to Customer Care.
