This virtual training is designed for Cadettes, Senior, Ambassador Girl Scouts, and Troop Leaders/ Adult Volunteers. The purpose is to prepare for success in facilitating events for other Girl Scouts. This class is best taken when the participant has an event in mind that they want to plan. This will include Service Unit Events, Fundraising Events, or Events connected to Take Action Projects, VIT pin, or other Highest Awards including the Girl Scouts' Silver, Rose, or Gold Awards. Topics will include Risk Management and Event Planning Details- such as timeline, budget, marketing, Girl Scout Policies & Procedures, etc. This is a virtual event with a hands-on workbook to be printed before class start time. This class is content-heavy and is fast-paced.
Badge Connections: During this program adult volunteers will receive the training required to be able to plan and facilitate events for their Service Units and the ability to guide their troops through the event planning process. Girls who complete this training will earn the prerequisite for putting on an event as needed for Highest Award project events, Rose Award events and the events required for the VIT Pin.

Program facilitated by: GSHCC Staff Trainer
Program Fee: $10 for girl members, $10 for Adult Members
Program includes: Guided workshop session, a space for discussion, and digital resource materials for download and printing.

Needed Supplies: A computer with good internet connection, a notebook and pen. Recommended: Print out and have handy the PDF of the resource packet that will be emailed to you with this information letter before the training. Or, open it on the computer to refer to during the training. Please do not join by phone, this is a content-heavy training that does not translate well to the small screen.
Special note: Please register each participating Adult and Girl Member.

  • This is a fast-paced training with a lot of content.
  • Please log on EARLY.
  • We will be using all of the time and working through an activity book.

Location: Once registered, check your MyGS account for the Zoom Login information, date, time, and activity description of this event. To view your My Account, visit https://mygs.girlscouts.org/, log into your account and click on My Events. From My Events, click on the name of the activity in the Upcoming Events section to see the detailed registration information, as well as any badge connections.

Adult Supervision: Adults of registered girl members are only required to be present in the house, not necessarily on the webinar.

Registration: A minimum of 5 registered participants are required to hold this event. In the event that the minimum is not met, you will be notified before the event date, and a full refund will be processed.
Media Release Disclaimer: There may be photos or video taken during this event. By registering for this event, you give permission for GSHCC and GSHCC program partners to use photos/videos of your girl to promote Girl Scouts. If you would like to opt out of photographs/videos, please notify staff at event check-in.

Information Letter: Once you have registered you can find the information letter at least 2 weeks before the event date, by logging in to your My Account, go to My Events and select the event. Scroll to the bottom of the page to find the information letter under Additional Documentation. An email will be sent out 1 week before the scheduled event with the information letter for the event. If you register after this time, you will need to go through your My Account to get the information letter or reach out to customer care.

To prepare: Install Zoom: It is not necessary to have your own Zoom account, but we DO recommend installing the Zoom Client App. This can be done ahead of time at this link: https://zoom.us/download. We do not recommend choosing "join from browser" as the quality is often low. Make sure your internet is strong: For best quality, turn off other devices that are using your internet connection. The closer you are to your modem, the stronger the connection will be. Print out the Handbook and Activity book Set up your space: Have all the supplies ready to go and near where you will be viewing the webinar. Join early! Join the class up to 15 minutes before the start time to say hi to the instructor and chat with other participants if you wish. This also allows time to work through any technical difficulties. Enjoy the class! Please be sure to be muted and class will start promptly at the scheduled time.

Not a member? Join now and save! Become a member before registering for this event to take advantage of our member pricing, plus save on other GSHCC events for the rest of the year! A membership year runs from October to September.
