Join Service Unit 116 in celebrating Girl Guides and Girl Scouts around the world with World Thinking Day! This year marks the 100th anniversary of World Thinking Day as a Girl Scout tradition. Activities will focus on the bonds that connect Girl Scouts and Girl Guides worldwide and explore the meaning of friendship, community, and shared impact.

Badge Connection:  During this program, girls will complete the following Badge steps World Thinking Day - All Steps.

Program facilitated by: Service Unit 116

Program Fee: $5 per girl member and non-member. $0 for adults.

Program Fee Includes: Small snacks, make and take activities, fun patch, and World Thinking Day passport. 

Supplies Needed: Table representing a country and displaying Girl Guides/Girl Scouts from that country. Each table should have a small activity, craft, or song and a sample food.  

Event Disclaimer: The event set up will start at 12:30 p.m., the doors will open at 1:00 p.m.

Troop Directions:

  • 1. Pick a country and email Heather Nielsen (hnielsen@tusd.net). She will let you know if that country has been taken already. We prefer not to have duplicates.
  • 2. Research your country and prepare your display; include general info (population, language, capital, currency, etc.) and info about Girl Scouts/Guides in that country.
  • 3. Activities/Food: Choose at least 1 activity related to your country (song, game, or quick craft). Bring 1 food specific to your country (sample size).
  • 4. Leaders will oversee their girls taking a turn visiting the different countries but will alternate girls so their booth is always covered. 

General Location: Tracy, CA.

  • Exact address can be found in your MYGS after registering for the event, and will also be included in the information letter. 

Note: This event will take place indoors. 

Adult Supervision: Adult supervision is required.

  • ONLY 2 registered Girl Scout adults per troop.
  • Adults must be volunteer trained and mandated reporter completed.
  • This event is hosted and run by a Service Unit, GSHCC staff will not be present.
  • Adults that want a badge for themself must email hnielsen@tusd.net by January 17th and bring $4 to the event. 

Registration: A minimum of 15 registered participants are required to hold this event. In the event that the minimum is not met, you will be notified before the event date, and a full refund will be processed.

Media Release Disclaimer: There may be photos or video taken during this event. By registering for this event, you give permission for GSHCC and GSHCC program partners to use photos/videos of your girl to promote Girl Scouts. If you would like to opt out of photographs/videos, please notify staff at event check-in.

Information Letter: Once you have registered you can find the information letter at least 2 weeks before the event date, by logging in to your My Account, go to My Events and select the event. Scroll to the bottom of the page to find the information letter under Additional Documentation. An email will be sent out 1 week before the scheduled event with the information letter for the event. If you register after this time, you will need to go through your My Account to get the information letter or reach out to customer care.

Troop Treasure: After registering, please follow the instructions on this form to request to pay with Troop Treasure.  

Cancellations:

  • If the activity requires a deposit, deposits are non-refundable.
  • Refunds will not be given for in person activities or training fees of $5 and less.
  • All other activities will be processed as follows:
  • 21 calendar days before the activity - 100%
  • 12-20 calendar days before the activity - 50%
  • 11 or fewer calendar days before the activity - No refunds

Once in a while, GSHCC may have to cancel an event. In the event that Girl Scouts Heart of Central California finds it necessary to cancel an activity or training, all troops/groups or individuals having submitted registrations and payments will receive a full refund.

Note: In the event of extenuating circumstances such as illnesses, deaths in the immediate family and other catastrophic events, GSHCC will consider refunds on a case-by-case basis.
